We are a church that seeks to be growing together in Christ. What does this mean?
1. It means we desire to grow out. We want to see more and more people come to know, trust and love the Lord Jesus, to place their faith in Him for their salvation, and become a part of God’s family – the church.
2. It means we desire to grow up. We want to be growing in our maturity as followers of Jesus. We want to spend time listening to God speak to us through his word – the bible, we want to spend time in prayer, we want to spend time serving and loving each other, we want to keep in step with the Holy Spirit, so that we become more and more like our saviour Jesus Christ.
3. It means we desire to grow together. The Christian life of faith is not a solo adventure. We were not created to be alone and we were not saved to be alone. When God saves you in Jesus he doesn’t just save you from something – your sin and the judgement it deserves. He doesn’t just save you to something – eternal life with Him. He saves you to be a part of something right now – His church – and to get on board with His mission to proclaim the good news to the world. We need each other in order to grow, so we want to be in community for our community.
4. It means we want Jesus. Jesus is at the very centre and heart of who we are, and what we are called to be as a church. Jesus is everything, without Jesus we have nothing. The good news of Jesus shapes everything we want to be and do as a church.
How do we grow together in Christ?
Know Jesus – We seek to help people know Jesus and engage with Him as He is revealed to us in the bible. We help people understand who Jesus is, all that God achieved through Jesus’ life, death, resurrection and ascension, and why this is good news for you and me.
Trust Jesus – We seek to help people understand what it means to trust in Jesus for their salvation and in their daily lives. As we face the struggles that life can bring we can face them with Jesus or without him and we want to help people know that trusting Jesus is better by far.
Love Like Jesus – We seek to help people to love like Jesus. As Jesus disciples we are called to love each other in the same way he loves us, and so we seek to encourage each other to love and serve the church and the wider community in which God has placed us.
